A Field Guide to Lies and Statistics

Author: Daniel Levitin

One paragraph summary:

A Field Guide to Lies and Statistics was one of those books that articulated clearly all those complexities around number that I thought were there but couldn’t define. Then it added on a bunch of stuff I didn’t even realise were problems. In his book, Daniel covers topics from how we collect, display, explain and understand data (spoiler alert: badly and sometimes intentionally but mostly accidentally!) This book is a fantastic read for product teams looking for a crash course in using data in product development but unlikely most of the other books I recommend this isn’t focused just on product development and is accessible to anyone looking to make sense of our modern world.
